The city that is everything
Acre is a historic and unique city, integrates a variety of cultures who have walked through its streets in history. Each one of it left its mark and heritage. It is not surprising that the city was announced by UNESCO as a world heritage site.
In our tour we will try to wonder through the city’s stories and defining events. The city experienced wars and revolutions and has been a main port city in Israel through history. Nowadays, the city has a wide variety of cultures that live together in its narrow allies, the mandatory neighborhood or the new neighborhoods which surround it. We will experience the effects of the past with the stories and the unique structures where we will visit, and its collection of cultures. We will enjoy the local food in its bustling and famous markets.
The tour:
We start our morning with a breakfast in the White Market, that has been existed since the 18th century and is named after the color of its walls. Afterwards, we will enter the depths of the old city and tell the story of the El-Jazzar Mosque, named after the ruler of Acre in late 18th century.
We will head to the old Turkish bath and then to a 17th century synagogue. We will tell the story of the Crusader kingdom which had Acre as its capital. We will enjoy lunch made by a local chef (Optional) / local mama , in a balcony turning towards the sea and have dessert in a Knafeh workshop in a market located in the heart of the old city.
Important information:
• A group includes between 15 to 20 people (nothing less and nothing more), except special tours on demand.
• There may be changes due to weather or force majeure
• The tours are accompanied by a tour guide, who specializes in the local history and culinary and will suggest explanations and stories about the specific location.
• Tours may occur all days of the week.
• It is allowed to arrive with minibus/midibus/bus to the meeting point, at your choice.
• Departure is from the central area of Israel at 8:00 a.m. and arrival back to the central area at 4:30 p.m.
