Haifa, Haifa, a city with a bottom…
Haifa, Haifa, a city with a bottom...
When talking about Haifa from a tourism perspective, we talk mainly about the German Colony area and Wadi Nisnas (their dignity rests in their place), but I would like to expose you to the human mosaic, the history and food of Lower Haifa, a little less known, no less tasty and interesting!
We will meet at the designated time at the Palmer Gate compound for morning coffee and pastry and a brief historical explanation about the complex and from there we will continue to the “Turkish Market” for tastings of another burekas…
After we understand what we ate (…) we will visit Jamal in the Melkite church, where we will be exposed to the customs of the community and a special human story that is all about giving. Near it is the clock tower and the “Great Mosque” which we will also visit.
We will climb (taxi/Carmelit) to the renewed Talpiot market for a variety of local tastings, and descend through the paths of the Wadi Salib neighborhood to the historic Hadar cinema and Falcon crackers…
A short walk and we are at the entrance to the local flea market and at “Golden Doll”… Free time will be given in the market.
We will end with Hummus, which is an institution at Abu Maron’s.
